Brawn hails teams peformance

Speaking after the eventful Malaysian GP, Ross Brawn has spoken out and has hailed his fantastic teams performance.

"A fantastic team performance and a thoroughly deserved second victory of the season for Jenson and the team," said a delighted Brawn.

"It was an eventful race to say the least and I am pleased with how quickly we were able to react to the changing conditions to maintain the lead that Jenson had achieved in the first stint of the race.

"It was not perfect as we could have had both cars in the top three if we had been a little bolder in bringing the drivers in for their third stops for intermediate tyres.

"However, we are delighted to have had such a successful start to the season with two pole positions and two victories in the opening races.

"You can't ask for more than that and it is a credit to the talent, attitude and dedication of our team that we have been able to achieve such results."

Button had been less than happy with his car after practice on Friday but overnight adjustments helped him post the best time in qualifying the following day to take pole position.

The British driver was highly appreciative of the efforts of his team, particularly engineer Andrew Shovlin as he claimed consecutive victories for the first time in his Formula One career.

"I have to say a massive thank you to my engineer who was on the podium with me," said the 29-year-old.

"We have been through a lot of tough times but he has been wicked and as we saw we came out on top and a lot of it was down to him, so 'thank you very much.'

"For me I think it's more amazing that we've won two in a row in these conditions, because Australia wasn't easy with the safety cars and here with the changing weather conditions it made it a lot more difficult.

"The great thing is that we could see what was going on behind us and we could react to it and react to it quickly and that's why we're sat here at the moment.

"I'm very happy and it would be nice going to Shanghai leading by a few points, I think five points, and hopefully we can have a straightforward race and we can see where we stand."

Despite winning two races in a row, Button admitted that his car is by no means perfect and he is still unsure about its handling in wet weather.

"The balance was definitely not right on the full wet (tyres)," he said."The circuit was reasonably dry, so it was difficult to get a balance. But I had massive oversteer on the first couple of laps and then the front started graining.

"There is a lot of work we need to do to sort our pace and balance out on the wet tyres but as I said it is just nice to get to the end of the race and we ended up on the top because, I think, of a good strategy and also looking at what other people were doing on the different types of tyres.

"Congratulations to all the guys who work on the car but also the engineers and the strategy guys who got us here really."

Button Wins at Malaysia!

After a challenging start, Jenon worked his way back to the front and driven superbly. Though with the race stopped before the end on lap 32, he will only gain half the points as the race completion was less than 75%.
Rubens also had a good drive finishing 5th from staring 9th on the grid.

Malaysia GP - Jenson puts it on pole again!

Once again, its Jenson on pole position. Completing a fastest lap at 1:35:181 gives Jenson the early advantage for tomorrows race.
Rubens completed Quali with a 4th place though will drop down to 9th after his grid penalty for having a gearbox change

Barrichello - 5 place frid penalty for gearbox change

Brawn GP’s Rubens Barrichello has been handed a penalty by the Sepang race stewards after his car needed a new gearbox following Friday practice for this weekend’s Malaysian Grand Prix. Barrichello will drop five places on the grid as a result of the change.

The Brazilian covered 22 laps in the morning to finish fourth and completed a further 37 laps on his way to sixth in the timesheets in the afternoon, without suffering any noticeable problems in his BG001.

This season the regulations state that gearboxes must last four race weekends.
